Beauties of Croatia – Island of Vis

Last two years, we’ve been skipping taking holidays and visiting the islands during the peak of the season. That time of year is surely beautiful, but due to the economical reasons and personal preferences, we’ve decided to go to the island of Vis in September.

Visiting Croatian islands during the summer months is something that become a habit of mine and summer (if I’m in Croatia) without frequent visits to the islands is unimaginable. Islands here are so easily reachable and everybody can go and make a daily trip. The closest one to the city of Split, where I come from, is the island of Šolta, and it takes only 50 minutes by ferry.

Island of Vis is a bit far off. By ferry it takes around 2 1/2 hours and by katamaran it takes a bit less. Island of Vis is famous for its beautiful coves, for natural and unspoiled beauty, beautiful red roofs, and military era that left so many traces on this island. (There are even military tours organized by tourist agencies… skipped this part).

So without saying much more, I’ll just let the pics tell the story of this piece of heaven on Earth.

A few tips:

The best way to see and explore the island is definitely by scooter. You don’t need driver’s permit as you can always rent 50 cc scooter

Place to eat – Buffet Vis (in the very center of the city of Vis, just few steps from the sea. Simple decorations, but food and ambiance is great.), local food, fresh fish, great prices. And most importantly …so tasty! 😉

Number 30 is knocking on my door

I follow ‘Jump for Joy’ blogger who always posts inspirational quotes. I can really say that these short sentences of inspiration give an injection of optimism to me on daily basis. I am sipping my morning coffee right now. It’s been raining these past couple of days, and it’s a perfect time to sit by the sea and stare in nothingness that spreads in front of me.

I’m about to turn 30 soon, and you know what I’ve been telling to myself very often lately? I would wake up in the morning, jump on my two feet, and would consequently whisper myself in the ear ‘One more day in my 20s’. It just sounds so good to me. It’s like a melody to my ear.

I keep pondering over my 20s and I ask myself following questions ‘What have I succeed in doing?’, ‘Was I true to myself?’, ‘Did I follow my dreams?’, ‘Did I stress too much over things unimportant to me?’. I can’t answer these questions with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. I can say that I have enjoyed my 20s. I can say that I have met some brilliant people. I can say that I have made mistakes, and have hopefully learned something, but most of all I can say that I’m looking forward to what life has to serve to me in the future.

I just have one hope and wish for myself – I hope that I will always try to follow my dreams and to point my eyes towards happiness no matter what comes.

Have a lovely day! 🙂
